Calum Macdonald, aged 23 years old, was poisoned with methanol last November whilst traveling in South Asia. He and several others suffered severe and life changing injuries, and very sadly six people lost their lives as a result of the methanol poisoning.
The day after drinking whiskey and vodka from their hotel, which contained methanol, Calum describes seeing a kaleidoscopic light before going blind.
Calum’s story, and the stories of the other people that sadly lost their lives, has been widely publicised in the national press this week to raise awareness of the dangers of travelling to countries where methanol poisoning is a concern.
Sensory Services are supporting Calum going forward to ensure he has the equipment and knowledge to remain independent.
