Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey has been established over 100 years and is the major provider of services for vision impaired people, and those with a combined sight and hearing loss in Surrey.

Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey is looking for a support worker to assist an employee in her job as a Deafblind Specialist Assessor.  The person will need to be reliable, honest, and patient and have use of their own car.

Main duties include:

  • To take and make telephone calls in conjunction with the employee and to convey voice mail messages.
  • To make a written record of telephone conversations/messages for the employee on request
  • To provide voice over interpretation and appropriate communication support to assist when doing assessment visits to service users and other work-related situations when required.
  • Undertaking other administrative tasks as required
  • Note taking at visits and meetings.

The successful applicant will understand the importance of data protection and confidentiality, as the role also involves supporting the worker during assessments with Service Users.

Candidates should be proficient with British Sign Language to level 2 or above or equivalent experience, possess good interpersonal and communication skills including IT and preferably hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service check although we can arrange this for you.
