Sight for Surrey were fortunate enough to be nominated for The Mayor’s Award for Access. This award recognises those who make a positive contribution to the lives of disabled people across the Guildford borough. The ceremony, held in Guildford on the 17th October, was attended by The Deputy Mayor of Guildford.

We were delighted to be presented with an award in the category ‘Services to the Community’ in partnership with Café Nero Guildford for our coffee morning events which take place there each month. These events offer an invaluable opportunity for people who are vision impaired to go out to an environment which they know is safe and meet with other people to chat for a couple of hours.

We are grateful to Café Nero Guildford for their support; the staff are fantastic, and always quick to help people where needed. The Café Nero staff were praised highly for going above and beyond to help people access these sessions.

This award is recognition that Sight for Surrey is working to tackle the issue of social isolation among people who are blind and vision impaired.
