The lovely Lizzi Jordan, featured in Signpost Spring Summer 2023, has been selected to make her Paralympic cycling debut next month for Team GB at the Paris Paralympics next month!

The Paralympics runs from 28th August to 8th September and Lizzi has been selected with her stocker, Dannielle Khan, to compete in para-cycling for Team GB.

Lizzi has said, “I can’t believe this is my life and I mean that in the nicest possible way. If you’d have told 19 year old me that in 2017 I’d lose my eyesight (and nearly my life) from suspected food poisoning and then become an elite para-cyclist going to a Paralympics, I wouldn’t believe a word you’d say.

I know I’ve touched on it before, but I’m not sure anyone will ever be able to understand the monumental loss I experienced suddenly losing my eyesight and life as I knew it as a mere teenager. Not to mention recuperating from multiple organ failure having been on life support for 2 months. I had to relearn how to physically walk and then try to navigate my new life with no eyesight.

Cycling has truly saved me. It’s taken a village to get here. The commitment and sacrifices that have happened behind the scenes are huge. It has taken grit and determination that I didn’t know I had within me. I have lost so much in life, but gained so much through this sport.

Spaces on this team were competitive and I’m truly honoured to have been given one. We will be on those start lines representing the whole team, and the whole country and hope to make everyone proud whilst doing so. I’m so lucky to be partnered up with Danni, it makes the while experience even more special.”

Go smash it Lizzi and Danni, we are all cheering for you!
