Our Centenary

Since 1922 Sight for Surrey has been serving the community by providing a vital service to people with sensory loss across Surrey to live independent lives. In this exciting year ahead, we will celebrate our 100 year commitment to this mission by hosting a year of inclusive events and fundraising challenges for all to get involved in.

Sight for Surrey, formed as the Surrey Voluntary Association for the Blind, was established following the monumental Blind Act of 1920 in response to the lack of support for blind and vision impaired people in Britain.

100 years later and the Sight for Surrey story continues to evolve to support the 8,000 blind, vision impaired, deafblind, Deaf and hard of hearing adults and children across Surrey to live independently through expert, hands-on sensory services.

Be a part of the celebrations and see how you can make a difference in our Centenary year; this could be at events, by volunteering or by donating throughout our 100th birthday.
