A one-stop Help Desk service has been launched by Sight for Surrey to offer an increased level of support to anyone concerned about their vision or anyone who already has a vision impairment or combined sight and hearing loss.

Sight for Surrey’s new Help Desk – where ‘every call matters’ – has an ambitious target: we want every caller to either receive the information they need immediately or be signposted to the social care services available for their need.  Helpdesk staff are already handling more than 400 calls a week and mostly they are handling the calls themselves without the service user having to be put through to a department.

Our aim is that the Help Desk will also assist any public-facing organisation by being a reliable and respected sign-posting service.  Callers to the main Sight for Surrey telephone number – 01372 377701 – will automatically go through to our Help Desk.

Operational Manager, Sue Fritsch, says: “Feedback from our callers has already shown that they appreciate speaking to one person to obtain the information they require.

“Our newly-formed team have an ever-expanding bank of knowledge to provide this information to our callers.”
