A lady guiding a young girl with a vision impairment to hit the large cricket ball with a bat.You don’t play cricket for the crowd, you play for your Country, goes the saying. So why not come and join us on Sunday 18th September at Oxted & Limpsfield Cricket Club, Master Park, Oxted for a charity cricket fun day, raising funds to support Sight for Surrey, a local charity that supports people in Surrey who are blind, vision impaired, Deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing.

The day kicks off at 10.30am with the unique opportunity to get involved in a ‘VI Cricket Superstars’ session – play cricket with the specialist VI equipment that vision impaired cricket players use.

At 1pm watch a nail biting match between England Cricket Association for the Deaf (ECAD) versus Oxted & Limpsfield XI Team. The Battle of the Titans! Who will come out victorious? The ECAD team recently came home victorious from The Ashes series in Australia.

Whilst all this is happening, there will be many fun activities for you and your family to try including ‘Beat the Bowler‘ and ‘Whack the Wicket’.

Mike O’Mahony, who played in the recent Ashes series for the England Cricket Association Deaf (ECAD) team and will be at the Cricket Fun Day said, “I am really looking forward to our match versus Oxted & Limpsfield XI team. Winning the Ashes was an unforgettable experience and we look forward to seeing a number of players turning out and taking an active part in the game on the 18th September. I am delighted the event is supporting such a worthwhile local charity that helps people in Surrey who are Deaf and hard of hearing, as well as vision impaired.”

Confirmed attendees include Councillor Jackie Wren, Chairman of Tandridge Council, Deputy Mayor for Surrey Heath, Councillor Pat Tedder and local resident, journalist, news reader and radio presenter, Nicholas Owen.
