Let’s Talk Tech, 30th September – Using a screen reader on your Smartphone or Tablet

Let’s Talk Tech is a friendly and informative webinar series for people who are blind or partially sighted covering a wide range of technology topics presented by Gary Eady and Keith Dear from the Technology Team. Whether you are interested in accessible technology, new digital tools or tips for everyday tech use, these sessions are a great way to learn and ask questions if you are blind or partially sighted.

This month the topic is Using a Screen Reader on your Smartphone or Tablet. In this session we will discuss and demonstrate:

• Using a Smartphone or Tablet in conjunction with the built-in screen reader (VoiceOver on Apple devices or Talk Back on Android devices)
• How the screen reader can be used to read icons on the screen, read text and email messages as well as text on web pages.
• Explain what the gestures are and how they are used to control the screen reader
