A big thank you to Heathrow Community Trust for their two-year funding to our See Hear Connect in the Community project that will support our Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) work in Spelthorne and Runnymede as well as our New Haw Meet up Catch up monthly hub.

Image shows a member of staff from the charity wearing a branded Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey t-shirt talking to a lady. Our ECLOs provide people recently diagnosed with an eye condition the practical and emotional support they need to understand their diagnosis, come to terms with their sight loss and maintain their independence. ECLOs provide essential support by liaising with patients, hospital staff, and our own sensory specialist workers. At what can be an emotionally traumatic time, the ECLO service can help provide this essential support when it is needed the most.

Our Meet Up and Catch Up community hubs take place in five towns across Surrey every month and are designed to combat social isolation that people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted and deafblind can experience. You can find your nearest one listed in our events calendar linked here  www.sightforsurrey.org.uk/events/.

Lisa Fletcher, Head of Fundraising and Engagement, from Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey said, “we are delighted with the funding from Heathrow Community Trust. Our ECLO services and community hubs are funded entirely by the generosity of our supporters and this funding will help us enormously.”
