If you are interested in receiving further information about any of the groups below please contact the CYPS Team.
N.B Before anyone attends any of our activities they need to have completed a consent and information form to give us details we require for our insurance. For further information please email the CYPS Team.
Family Events
Our Recreation Activity Workers organise experiences and events which are fun and also help children with a vision or multi-sensory impairment to gain a greater understanding of the world in which we live, giving them opportunities to understand different concepts. Meeting other children who have similar life experiences and challenges can help to reduce feelings of isolation, giving opportunities to make friends. These activities are designed for family involvement, parents remain responsible for their children and siblings are welcome.
If any family would like to attend an event but has any concerns – either practical or financial – please contact us as we may be able to assist.
11UP Activities & Events
Our 11UP group is open to young people who are in school year 7 up to 18 years. This is a group where young people can attend without parents/ carers, if they can manage their personal care/ toileting needs independently. Sight for Surrey provide a high adult to young person ratio at our 11UP events to ensure the young people are supported as appropriate to their needs. This group enjoy a range of adventurous activities. The aim is for this group to gain confidence and increase independent life skills while having fun.
Young Ambassadors
Our Young Ambassadors come from our 11Up group. They represent Sight for Surrey at fundraising events and local authority committees, campaigning to promote their needs and those of the VI community in general. They are able to communicate how their vision impairment affects them and how communities can adapt to assist their independence in regards to their sight impairment. Some of our young people have also written articles, blogs and given talks at schools and spoken on the radio.
VI Young Adult Group
Our young adults group is for 18-25 year olds who have a vision impairment or multi-sensory impairment. The aim of the group is to have fun and socialise while engaging in a range of different activities.
