Painshill Park in Cobham recently welcomed VI guests over a two-day free-entry period. The visitors benefited from support from the staff at this wonderful setting as many of them had received visual awareness training from Stella Black, Sight for Surrey’s Training and Development Manager.
Sandra Pearce, Volunteer Manager at Painshill, said: “The session was excellent. Visits from Sight for Surrey clients were a welcome opportunity for us to put our new skills into practice and to learn more from our VI visitors.”
Sandra added that while Painshill will always welcome VI visitors and do everything to make their day enjoyable, if they are given notice – particularly for group visits – they can maximise the guest’s visit. Notice of around two weeks allows Painshill to do thing things like book volunteer drivers for their buggy car and organise trained volunteer staff to give further support during their visit.
