The Friendship Group is a social group for those with combined sight and hearing loss, organised by Sight for Surrey’s Specialist Sensory Assessor for combined sight and hearing loss, Julie Barclay.
The Friendship Group meet once a month at different venues and the majority of the members come with a Communicator Guide, which means they have one to one support, and can leave early or stay longer if they wish. However, people can attend with a family member, carer or friend.
The Friendship Group allows the members and Communicator Guides access to professional support. Many of the members have found their isolation reduced and well being improved through the Friendship Group outings.
