Sight for Surrey are an ambitious charity offering a lifetime of support to people who are blind or partially sighted, Deaf, Deafblind or hard of hearing.  Our mission is to support people to overcome their day-to-day challenges, achieve their potential and lead an independent life.  Established in 1922, a countywide charity based in Fetcham, near Leatherhead.

This is an exciting time to join the team at Sight for Surrey; during 2022, we will be celebrating the organisations centenary.

We are seeking to recruit a Family Activities Worker to join the Children & Young People’s Team.

The role involves organising and running at least one activity each month that is suitable for children and young people who have vision impairment or multi-sensory impairment aged from 0-18 years. These activities also include parents and siblings.

These opportunities aim to enhance the life opportunities of children and young people with a vision impairment or combined sight and hearing loss, giving them the opportunity to make friends, learn about the world in which we live, build confidence and self-esteem.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with children and young people and be imaginative, creative and organised.  Experience of vision impairment or sign language would be an advantage but not essential.  The post holder will need to be flexible working the 15 hours over Mondays, Tuesdays and during weekends when an activity is planned.

For further details of the role please see the job description.  An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service will be required which Sight for Surrey will arrange.

Closing date:  Wednesday 1st December 2021

Interview date: Wednesday 8th December 2021 (p.m.)
