We are expanding our services!  Do you have a few hours free on a regular basis? Are you interested in supporting people with a visual impairment, hearing loss or combined sight and hearing loss to live independent lives?  If so, we would love you to consider working with us.

Sight for Surrey is an ambitious charity offering a lifetime of support to people who are hard of hearing, Deaf, deafblind or blind or partially sighted.  Our mission is to support people to overcome their day-to-day challenges, achieve their potential and lead an independent life.  Established in 1922, we are a countywide charity based in Fetcham, near Leatherhead.

Sight for Surrey is pleased to announce exciting opportunities for sessional Communicator Guides and Visual Impairment Support Workers. These workers work direct with people with a combined sight and hearing loss or visual impairment.   You will be working on a one to one basis supporting people to live as independent lives as possible, accessing the community (no personal care duties) usually in people’s homes, community, office, health settings e.g. hospitals, GP surgeries.

We provide services across Surrey – however we would expect you to be working local to you.  The hours are flexible.  A Disclosure and Barring Service will be required which we can arrange.   In view of our Social Care activities, our aim is to have a fully vaccinated workforce, and we encourage and support our workers to protect themselves with available vaccinations.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Listening skills
  • Trustworthy and confidential
