DESCRIPTION:Breaking Down Barriers is a workshop for professionals in Surrey to gain an overview\, understanding and appreciation of inclusion\, accessibility and independence for and with people who are Deaf\, hard of hearing\, blind\, partially sighted\, deafblind. \nWith personal insight into everyday lived experience\, its challenges and opportunities\, you’ll learn about the practical support available\, accessible technology and communications and how we work with adults and children across Surrey. \nThis workshop will inspire and empower you to become a champion for access and inclusion in Surrey\, helping to break down the barriers so everyone can embrace an independent life at home\, at work and in our communities. \nProgramme includes: \n\nVision impairment awareness\, including ‘sighted guide’ taster\nDeaf and hard of hearing awareness taster\nUnderstanding combined sight and hearing loss and the deafblind experience\nAccessible technology\, resources and developments\, including equipment demos\nOvercoming barriers to access and inclusion discussion\nThe work of Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey and connections with Surrey County Council\nLight lunch and refreshments.\n\nPrevious attendees said: \n“It was helpful to take part in practical examples of what it’s like to have a vision impairment. Get in touch at fundraising@sightforsurrey.org.uk to sign up and fundraise for Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey. \nRegistration fee only £30 per place worth over £200! \nWe provide all our riders with a free Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey charity cycling jersey and offer dedicated support from our fundraising team to make sure you have all the tips\, advice\, and support you need to reach your sponsorship goal and make the most of your experience. The fundraising target for each rider taking part is £400.
